Howard Edward on Jimmy Nevis collab

On Saturday, 26 September 2020, Amy Tjasink and Jimmy Nevis’s ‘Game Over’ was the highest climber on the Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie – up 7 places from no.17 the previous week (19 Sep 2020) to no.10. After playing the first track of the Top 10, however, Carl Wastie had to put pause on the chart to find out about yet another collaboration with Jimmy Nevis. This time, a collab between producer, Howard Edward, and the ‘7664’ star. It’s not the first time Howard Edward and Jimmy Nevis have worked together – as Howard was in the background of Jimmy’s record-breaking single, ‘Hey Jimmy’, which holds the record for the longest reigning no.1 from a local artist on the multiple award-winning Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie. Howard Edward is a local producer and songwriter extraordinaire, although, chances are, you may not know him by that name, as he actually goes by a few… Benjamin, HE Produced It, and Howard Edward. And whilst his names may change like the weather in Cape Town, there is one constant: he makes epic music. So, Carl Wastie called Howard Edward up on Saturday to find out about his new collab with Jimmy Nevis, which is called ‘Take A While’, and also to find out what on earth we should be calling him, as his name keeps changing!

Majozi gets major surprise on the Kfm Top 40

16 November 2020 | 7 Minute Listen

One week following the release of his latest single, 'Falling', Majozi's ultimate love song debuted on the Kfm Top 40 at no.33 on Saturday, 14 November 2020. What many don't know: when he was in-studio the week prior to promote the new single (Saturday, 7 November 2020), Majozi mentioned to Carl Wastie off-air that he loved how Jethro Tait's mom surprised him with the news when 'Dreams' first charted... and so an idea was born... The award-winning Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie hatched a plan to surprise Majozi in a similar fashion, should 'Falling' ever make its way onto the chart. Thanks to all your love - from requests on Kfm 94.5 to streams via your favourite reputable streaming service - the song made its way onto the Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie in the course of one week and so "Mission: Surprise Majozi" was given the green light and started work. As 'Falling' was written as a love song for his long-term girlfriend, Daniela, who has recently undergone her own a battle with mental health (and now an advocate for making the subject of mental health less taboo) - Carl Wastie enlisted the help of Daniela to break the news to Majozi. Meanwhile, Majozi was advised that Carl had made a remix of the song that he wanted him to hear... when it came to playing the remix though, Daniela's voice came the air to congratulate her partner on making it onto the chart - in what was a beautiful, tear-jerking moment that you have to hear to feel...
