Goodluck on new music, the Luckdown and more

GoodLuck have teamed up with German producer, Phil Soda, to remake a classic hit single, 'Freak Like Me'. The song made waves around the world when it was released by Adina Howard back in 1995 and again by the Sugababes in 2002. Now, in 2020, Goodluck and Phil Soda connected to the lyrical content of the song and knew they wanted to put their own spin on the track and release it as their next single. It is also the second major cover by Goodluck who back in 2016 released there take on Londonbeat’s ‘I’ve Been Thinking About You’ to critical acclaim. On Saturday, 10 October 2020, Carl Wastie caught up with Goodluck frontwoman, Jules Harding, to find out more about how the collab came together, on the Kfm Top 40. He also chatted with her about the band’s highly successful online series ‘The Luckdown’, which sees the band interviewing famous faces in an original talk show format. As home to all your music exclusives, the Kfm Top 40 also got the lowdown on what’s next for the Cape Town group who are celebrating a decade of making audiences jam to bops like ‘Taking It Easy', 'Electro Thing', 'Trickery', 'Dear Future Me', 'Be Yourself', 'Waiting For You' and most recently, ‘Rum & Cola’. And the answer is something we’re very excited for: an acoustic album featuring the band’s favourite singles.

Majozi gets major surprise on the Kfm Top 40

16 November 2020 | 7 Minute Listen

One week following the release of his latest single, 'Falling', Majozi's ultimate love song debuted on the Kfm Top 40 at no.33 on Saturday, 14 November 2020. What many don't know: when he was in-studio the week prior to promote the new single (Saturday, 7 November 2020), Majozi mentioned to Carl Wastie off-air that he loved how Jethro Tait's mom surprised him with the news when 'Dreams' first charted... and so an idea was born... The award-winning Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie hatched a plan to surprise Majozi in a similar fashion, should 'Falling' ever make its way onto the chart. Thanks to all your love - from requests on Kfm 94.5 to streams via your favourite reputable streaming service - the song made its way onto the Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie in the course of one week and so "Mission: Surprise Majozi" was given the green light and started work. As 'Falling' was written as a love song for his long-term girlfriend, Daniela, who has recently undergone her own a battle with mental health (and now an advocate for making the subject of mental health less taboo) - Carl Wastie enlisted the help of Daniela to break the news to Majozi. Meanwhile, Majozi was advised that Carl had made a remix of the song that he wanted him to hear... when it came to playing the remix though, Daniela's voice came the air to congratulate her partner on making it onto the chart - in what was a beautiful, tear-jerking moment that you have to hear to feel...
